 Introduction

UiTM Perlis Farming Unit was established in tandem with the introduction of the planting courses offered here. The present UiTM Perlis moved to its permanent campus in Arau in 1978. An area of 120 acres was allocated to be developed into a farm purposely for DPIM (Diploma in Planting Management) students to have a proper place for their practical training.

The development of this farm is planned in accordance with the requirements established specifically to provide maximum exposure to students and researchers- in all aspects and areas related to agriculture.
Now this area of 197 acres has been developed into a modern farm. Various crops that support the DPIM syllabus are also planted. It allows students and lecturers to do their practical training in agriculture and to conduct agricultural-based research.

Besides, the farm is also the place where students undergo practical structured training during semester breaks, especially for the first semester students and students who do not earn points in other training agencies.

Basically most of the farm area have been developed except for the 'disturb land’ and the area that was proposed to be used for agricultural research such as a research on Jatropa plant by DPIM lecturers and the study of growth of various types of corn by the lecturers of Biology.
