About the Program

The program aims to produce and nurture responsible, synergistic, and skillful professional land surveyor assistants to support national and global agendas1. Our graduates are equipped to provide expert services in survey management, mapping, and geospatial technology, upholding the university’s vision of becoming a globally renowned institution with outstanding academics and impactful research.

The duration of the program is three (3) years. The curriculum structure is thoughtfully designed to cover all aspects of foundational theory alongside the latest technological requirements in the fields of surveying and geomatics1. Qualified and experienced teaching staff, paired with conducive facilities, ensure this academic program remains highly relevant and of exceptional quality.


Accreditation

This program is recognized by the Public Services Department and esteemed professional bodies such as the Land Surveyors Board (LJT), the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM), and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).


Career Opportunities
 

This program equips graduates with comprehensive expertise in land surveying and mapping2. Graduates enjoy a diverse range of career options in both the public and private sectors, including roles such as assistant land surveyor, assistant land administrator, assistant site manager or engineer, and surveying technician.

The application of geospatial and remote sensing knowledge also opens doors in the rapidly growing geospatial industry, featuring roles like assistant geospatial engineer, assistant GIS analyst, and assistant image analyst2. Furthermore, careers in related fields—such as tourism, environmental management, real estate surveying and development, building and construction, land management, and software development (including sales and marketing)—are highly accessible.

Entry Requirements

(Duration of Study: 3 Years / 6 Semesters)

 

General University Requirements

  • Open to applicants from the Science / Technical and Arts streams.
  • Open only to Malays, Natives of Sabah, Natives of Sarawak, and Orang Asli.
  • Possess an SPM or equivalent recognized by the Malaysian government with THREE (3) CREDITS (including Bahasa Melayu) and a PASS in History.

Specific Program Requirements by Category

  1. SPM Leavers Must meet the General University Requirements with the following subject breakdown:
  • 3 CREDITS:
    • Mathematics
    • Physics / Chemistry / Biology / Science
    • Any ONE (1) other subject
  • 2 PASSES:
    • English
    • Any ONE (1) other subject
  1. Certificate Leavers (Polytechnic / IKM / Other Institutions)
  • Pass the Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (Malaysian Skills Certificate) or from another institution recognized by the Malaysian Government and the Land Surveyors Board (LJT).
  • Pass SPM or equivalent with 3 CREDITS including Bahasa Melayu, Mathematics, and any one other subject.
  • PASS English.
  • Note: A copy of the application and a certified copy of the certificate must be sent to the Deputy Dean (Academic), Faculty of Built Environment at UiTM Shah Alam no later than one week after the application closing date.
  1. UiTM Pre-Diploma Leavers
  • Achieve "Lulus Naik Taraf" (LNT) from the Pre-Diploma in Science (AS007 / AS008) or Pre-Diploma in Science (STEM C & Arts) (AS002 / AS003) programs from UiTM.
  • Obtain a minimum CGPA of 2.50.
  1. APEL (Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning) Candidates
  • Pass the APEL Assessment (Aptitude test and Portfolio Assessment) by MQA.
  • Be at least 20 years old in the year of application.
  • Have at least five (5) years of working experience in a related field.
  • Pass a faculty-level interview.

Additional Requirement for All Candidates:

  • All candidates must be able to carry out practical work.
